Burnham-on-Crouch Weather History
Burnham-on-Crouch has experienced some significantly cold weather. In 1897, the weather was so cold that photographs were taken of boats that were literally frozen into the waters of the harbour. Then, in the winter of 1962-1963, Burnham-on-Crouch was subjected to 7 weeks of arctic weather conditions. The waters in the harbour froze again, and reports were circulated that the cold weather was so extreme that eggs inside household larders were freezing inside their shells.
Important: Whilst we provide a comprehensive daily weather forecast service for Essex, we urge visitors to check the Met Office website today for any severe weather warnings and the Environment Agency website for any flood warnings that may affect Burnham-on-Crouch and the surrounding areas.
